Welcome to the Community Media Center of Santa Rosa
"Empowering community through access to media training, technology and production."

Services for the Public
To use the Community Media Center’s public access services you must be a member. As a member, you, your family or your organization can choose from a variety of services and resources.

Membership is open to residents of Santa Rosa and non-profit organizations located in our community.  (Proof of residency may be required).

There are two levels of membership:

Basic members can submit programs to be played on the public access cable channel and receive our bi-weekly schedule.

Production members can receive training, use media center production equipment and obtain professional production advice, in addition to the basic member benefits.

It’s Easy as…

1.  Attend an orientation session at the Media Center. Call 569-8785  ext.25 to reserve  your seat.

2.  Complete a membership form, select the membership type that’s right for you.

3.  Provide a government issued form of picture identification (drivers license, passport, etc.)

Unsure if you are eligible? Check with the CMC front desk to find out .

Getting Started And Making it Work!
Should you choose to join and become part of the CMC family, you will be assigned a staff mentor. It is the mentor’s job to help you get the most out of your experience at the Media Center. To do this, the mentor will guide you or your group through a series of steps:

1.  The Assessment  In this first important get-together, your mentor will try to understand your ideas and goals.  What do you hope to accomplish? What skills do you already have? How much time and energy do you have to put toward your project. Through the discussion, the mentor will attempt to determine what resources at CMC will best help you achieve your goals; what training would be appropriate, and any additional advice or support that is needed.

2.  Training and/or “Test-Out”   The mentor will make arrangements for enrollment in the agreed upon workshop(s) or they will arrange a test of the member’s abilities leading to certification.

3.  The Production Proposal  You’re trained and ready, now it’s time to begin your project.  Fill out a program proposal and meet with your mentor for review.  He/she may offer advice, make equipment recommendations and then assign resources for you to use. Your production will also receive a number to be used when making equipment and facility reservations.

4.  Ongoing Support  There is always a staff member “on-duty” to troubleshoot and offer pointers, however appointments are also available with your mentor for advice, problem solving and tutorial support. Mentors periodically check in with members. But should assigned resources run out before a production is complete, your mentor can handle that too!

5.  Completed programs  Once you have completed your production, your mentor can help you complete your “Request for Playback” so you can submit your program for channel scheduling.
