What is the Community Media Center?
The Community Media Center is a facility where residents, schools, government, and nonprofit organizations can access training, tools and cable channel time to use television to communicate with the community. Who can use the Media Center?

Programming created through or submitted to CMC, is seen on the Comcast residential cable system within Santa Rosa. Info Channel - Channel 26, The Education Station - Channel 27, CityView - Government Media Channel 28, Our Channel - Public Access Channel 30. What's On TV?
On these channels you will find a wide variety of noncommercial programming by, for and about by the people and organizations in Santa Rosa. You will find local meeting coverage, entertainment programs, programs documenting and promoting the work of local groups, NASA space missions, educational programs, arts coverage and more. Overall, the programming represents the broad range of ideas, issues and opinions that matter to the community. In other words, CMC provides the training and tools…but the community provides the content. How can I get the program schedule?
The best way to find out "what's on" is to become a CMC member. The program schedule will be mailed to you every 2 weeks. Another excellent source for the program schedule is our website at www.communitymedia.org. The site includes complete schedules along with sample programs and other helpful information. CMC upcoming programs are also listed on Comcast channel 11 - The TV Guide channel. How is the Media Center funded?
The largest share of funding for Media Center operations comes out of the cable franchise agreement between the City of Santa Rosa and Comcast Cable. CMC receives a portion of the franchise fee, which is compensation to the community for use of public rights-of-way. Additionally, CMC receives equipment replacement funding through the same agreement. The remainder of CMC's operating budget comes from custom video and training services, membership fees and management of a high speed network for public institutions. What Services are Available?
CMC has a broad range of video production equipment including digital editing suites, field camcorders, an animation suite and two studios (one full size and one "mini" studio). CMC staff mentors provide training and technical advice to allow community members to create their own television programs. For an additional fee, CMC can provide cost-efficient technical services and customized workshops for nonprofit organizations. CMC also manages cablecast of all programs. What does it cost to use the Media Center?
Any local non-profit organization or Santa Rosa resident wishing to use CMC services must become a member. Those wishing to submit already produced programming and/or receive the program guide may join as a basic member for $15 per year. Production memberships give access to training, equipment and facilities use along with channel time. Annual fees are as follows: Individual resident $40/ yr. Student/senior $30/ yr. ("senior" is 60 or older) Nonprofit organizations $65/ yr. (and up) Family membership $65/ yr. Does CMC have intern opportunities?
CMC maintains an internship program, which provides extensive hands-on production training and experience for interested individuals/students. Interns are selected through an interview process and school credit is possible. Interns are expected to commit a minimum of eight hours per week for at least one semester. How can I become involved?
